|James Kunke joined the City of Lewisville in August 2002 as its Community Relations Manager, having previously spent three years in Southlake as that city’s public information officer. He currently is the city’s Director of Community Relations and Tourism. In those roles, he has developed comprehensive communications programs that include print materials, electronic media, websites, municipal-access television, public education programs, strategic planning and extensive media relations. He also serves as director of the city-operated Convention and Visitors Bureau.|
|Phyllis Cox, CMP
Marketing & Tourism Manager
|Phyllis Cox plans, organizes and oversees the community relations and tourism divisions, and coordinates citywide marketing efforts. For convention sales, she assists groups in finding meeting space and hotel rooms. Currently in her sixth year with the Lewisville CVB, Phyllis brings 32 years of experience in CVBs and hotels to her position. She was previously in sales at the Arlington CVB and Grapevine CVB. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. In her spare time, she enjoys spectator sports and beach vacations!
Sports / Tourism Sales
|As part of the CVB, my responsibility is to promote, market and sell the City of Lewisville to sports organizers and travel planners with the purpose of bringing sports events and tourism groups to Lewisville. My primary focus is on sports tournaments and leisure group travel that utilize hotels, attractions, restaurants and retail outlets. I am passionate about the hospitality and travel industry! My personal hobbies are sports, particularly soccer and baseball. I enjoy spending leisure time with my family.|
|Daren Watkins is an award-winning journalist and an award-winning event planner. He came to the City of Lewisville in July of 2013 and hit the ground running, bringing himself up to speed on the preparations for Western Days. He came to Lewisville from the City of Mesquite where he grew the Real. Texas. Festival. from the ground up. He has been involved in all facets of special event planning, but places a special focus on securing sponsorship. He is an avid endurance athlete, having 7 marathons, 4 half marathons and an attempt at a triathlon under his belt.
|Jamie Milstead joined the Lewisville CVB in August of 2016 after spending eight years with the American Cancer Society, where she managed Relay For Life events. As an events specialist, Jamie coordinates City festivals and events and helps attract visitors to Lewisville. She graduated from Abilene Christian University. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys watching indie films, musicals, football and tennis. She loves to ski, and is probably trying a new workout right now!
|Shelly joined the Special Events team in January of 2017 as a part time Events Assistant, moving to her current position of Events Specialist in October of 2018. Prior to coming to the City of Lewisville, Shelly served 6 years at the City of Irving’s Art Center. She attended Oklahoma City University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Dance/Arts Management. Upon graduation, she went on to work for the late Andy Williams in his Branson Theatre- Moon River and eventually moved to Texas where she owned and operated a successful dance studio in Flower Mound for 20 years.
Shelly is an avid Disney fan, loves cruising the Caribbean and being by the Ocean. She lives in the area with her husband and child.
