Black Box Songwriter Series featuring Emily Scott Robinson


North Carolina native Emily Scott Robinson performs at the Black Box Songwriter’s Concert Series on Sunday, March 11, 6:30 p.m., at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

The last several years have been busy for Robinson including releasing her debut album in 2016 (Magnolia Queen) and an EP (Live in Birmingham) in 2017 with a new album set to release in the Fall of 2018. In addition to recording her songs, Emily has been winning song writing contests all over the nation. In 2017, Emily was featured on PRI's "The World" for her single, "Traveling Mercies." She was also named a winner of the 2017 Wildflower Festival Performing Songwriter Contest. In 2016, Emily won the Grassy Hill New Folk competition at Kerrville Folk Festival, in addition to an Honorable Mention in the 2016 Telluride Troubadour Contest. In 2015, she won first place in the “American Songwriter” May/June Lyric Contest.

The Black Box Songwriter Concert Series is produced by the City of Lewisville and features performing singer/songwriters in an intimate, listening room setting. This series, now in its third season draws great reviews and has attracted artists that include Susan Gibson (Wide Open Spaces-Dixie Chicks), Walt Wilkins (Trains I Missed), Ricky Skaggs (Seven Hillsides), Ronny Cox, and numerous Kerrville Folk Festival Finalists.

General admission tickets are $15 per person (sales tax included) and can be purchased online or by calling the MCL Grand at 972.219.8446.

Located in the heart of historic Old Town Lewisville, MCL Grand is the premier public arts facility in Southern Denton County. The 40,000-square-foot facility features a 296-seat proscenium theater, black box theater, dance recital hall, art gallery, five art classrooms and a large courtyard. Medical City Lewisville has a multi-year agreement with the city for naming rights at the center.

To reach MCL Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
